Wits Undergraduate Science Centre

Structural and Civil Engineer for the Wits Science Stadium at University of Witwatersrand West Campus. This project comprised a new 17 m clear span 3 storey laboratory venue and the conversion of an existing stadium into 5 new auditoria.

Wits Maths & Science Block - Phases 1 & 2

Structural and Civil Engineer for the new Mathematical Sciences Complex on the University of Witwatersrand’s West Campus. Phase 1 comprised a six-storey office component with Phase 2 being 3 200 m2 of lecture venues over three storeys

Wits Tshimologong Precinct

Structural and Civil Engineer for the conversion of 5 existing buildings in Braamfontein into new facilities for the Johannesburg Centre for Software Engineering, including new buildings inside existing facades plus additional floors inside existing structures

Royal Canin Professional Pet Products

Structural and Civil Engineer for the conversion of the existing warehouse, and addition of new production tower for Royal Canin pet foods, Kya Sands, Johannesburg (6 700m²) 30m high with 5 levels in Reinforced Concrete (to level 8.0 m) and Structural Steel

GE Cans

Structural and Civil Engineer for a 9 000m² x 9m clear height factory and 6 400m² x 11m clear height storage facility. All Structural Steel design, concrete columns and bases, mezzanine coffer slabs, ground beams & pile caps, and various machine bases. This was a fast tracked project, designed for phased handover

Buzau Distribution Warehouse

Structural and Civil Engineer for the new Distribution Centre for SAB Miller Company in Buzau, Romania (5 950m²). The structure consists of reinforced concrete bases and stub-columns, and optimised steel plate girders.

BMW Clearwater

Structural and Civil Engineer for BMW and Motorad Dealership in Clearwater, Johannesburg. The structure consists of reinforced concrete raft foundations, rc columns and a mixture of rc flat slabs and structural steel roofs.

161 Rivonia Road

Structural and Civil Engineer for a development comprising 2 basements & 2 retail floors (Motor Dealership) plus 2 floors parking and 11 floors of offices. RC structure comprising cores, columns and flat slabs, plus feature Y columns to showroom. Balance of structure above level 4 still to be constructed

Sandton Court

Structural and Civil Engineer for a mixed use development comprising three floors of retail/offices (7 600 m²) and 12 floors of residential apartments (377 units) in Morningside, Sandton. The structure consists of reinforced concrete cores and post-tensioned flat slabs. The project is being phased.

Woman’s Gaol

Structural and Civil Engineer for Woman’s Gaol Office Block for City of Johannesburg (1 800 m²). The structure comprises a reinforced concrete frame and flat slabs.

15 Chaplin Road

Structural and Civil Engineer for iconic office block in Illovo, Johannesburg, comprising 4 basements (9 000 m²) and four floors of offices (5 800 m²). The structure comprises a reinforced concrete core, columns, transfer slab and flat slabs

Sinosteel Plaza

Structural and Civil Engineer for an elegant 35 000 m² seventeen-storey office block in Morningside, Sandton. The structure comprises a reinforced concrete core and post-tensioned flat slabs. Precast concrete balustrades were used for the parking decks

Brickfields

Lead Structural and Civil Engineer for 600 social housing units (36 000 m²). Complex comprises two 9-storey towers and fifteen 4-storey walk-up blocks on the historic Brickfields site, adjacent to the iconic Nelson Mandela Bridge in Newtown, Johannesburg

Tribunal Gardens

Structural and Civil Engineer for 174 units in 3 and 4-storey walk-ups, built around open courtyards (9 200 m²). A residential development for the Johannesburg Housing Company, in Fordsburg, Johannesburg

Elangeni

Structural and Civil Engineer for 168 units in a four-storey walk-up townhouse complex built around an open courtyard (9 000 m²). A residential development for the Johannesburg Housing Company, in Central Johannesburg.

Sandton Skye Phase 1

Structural Engineer for 17 storey Apartment Block in Morningside, Johannesbug, comprising two basement levels, a podium level and 14 storeys of apartments. The structure comprises a reinforced concrete core, columns and flat slabs

Tyger Waterfront

Structural and Civil Engineer for the 109 unit eight storey apartment block at the Tygervalley Waterfront in Bellville, Cape Town. The structure comprised reinfoced concrete cores, columns and flat slabs.

6 Plein Street Residential Conversion

Structural and Civil Engineer for conversion of existing nineteen storey office building into 357 housing units. This project utilised a combination of drywall and brickwork for the residential units, with new timber mezzanine floors to most units

Johannesburg Mortuary

Civil and Structural Engineer for redevelopment of the Johannesburg Mortuary for the JDA. The project mainly consisted of redevelopment of existing spaces, with some structural additions.

Zola Clinic Dental Clinic

Structural and Civil Engineer for the redevelopment of the Dental Clinic block at Zola Clinic, for the University of Witwaterrand.

Wits Roy McAlphine Burns Unit at CHBAH

Structural and Civil Engineer for the addition of a 12 bed ICU ward for the Burns Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. The project comprised a double storey Utilities Building, a double storey Medical Gas facility, a new theatre plus the double storey 12 bed ICU block.

Savenake House

Structural and Civil Engineer for restoration of Savenake House, the official residence of the vice-chancellor of the University of Witwatersrand

Wits Great Hall

Structural Engineer for the restorwation of the 100 year old facade of the Great Hall at the University of Witwatersrand Robert Sobukwe Block.

Wits Flower Hall

Structural and Civil Engineer for redevelopment of the existing Flower Hall at Wits University. Addition of two mezzanine slabs within the existing barrel vault structure and construction of a three storey link building between the existing Flower Hall and the Genmin Labs building.
